If any of you had trouble reaching me this weekend there are a couple of reasons for that, some good and some not so good.
The good reason being that, as many of you know, I having a passion for motorcycle riding and one thing that bikers LOVE to do is charity work. This Saturday was a charity ride for a local organization called the WHAS Crusade For Children. Between riding to the event and participating in it, I was unavailable a good deal of the day due to a combination of cell phone reception issues and it being a LITTLE hard to hear the phone ring on a Harley and equally difficult to answer it while riding.
The bad reason being that I have spent the majority of my day today rescuing my bike. While on a short ride this morning evidently all this 100 + degree days we have been having took their toll on my battery and I found myself WALKING !!! BUT being the positive minded person I am, I didn’t let it get me down. And, sure enough, I only had to walk about a half mile till the Universe catered to my thoughts and caused a family driving in the OTHER direction to turn around, pick me up and take me all the way home!!! The Law of Attraction NEVER ceases to amaze me.

Note: I’ve noticed that a lot of your calls and e-mails are of a technical nature. PLEASE, send me any questions or areas of concern having to do with computers in general or specific things (internet AND non-internet related) you are having trouble with and I am going to cover those things in depth in a week or so.
Ok, now about that supplementary e-mail I sent out this week which some of you will not have received if you signed up in the last couple of days or so. First of all, as you know this newsletter is independent of Success University of which I am a member. I am here for the masses. But at the same time I do PROMOTE Success University here. Second of all, what I am about to do is independent of my downline. It’s for everyone of my readers regardless of who you are signed up under.
What I am going to do is this. As those of you who are already a member of Success University know, they have been really generous with the promotion bonuses. I wish to do my part to take that one step further for all of you. By the way, if you are not a member of Success University NOW would be a really good time to start !!!

I am going to have an enrollment competition that is effective IMMEDIATELY. It is going to run through the end of November. So, effectively you have 90 days to participate. You will never be truly successful as long as you remain a follower. Ok, I would like to touch briefly today on something that I like to call SPIKING. Now, all you volleyball fans just remain calm. I’m not talking about spiking a ball. I’m talking about something that I like to do with my business cards. Business cards are not just something you hand out to people. Use your imagination like I do. Those silly little things can end up in just the darnedest places.
1. Go to the library/book store in the self help section and SPIKE a couple books. The person who sees that card is most likely already interested in your product, service or business.
2. While at the airport, SPIKE a couple of Business magazines or the Wall Street Journal. Probably pretty good candidates there.
3. SPIKE your tip at the restaurant. Bet that waitress or waiter would much rather do what you are doing than what they are doing.
4. Buying gas? SPIKE the card reader.
5. Using a pay phone. SPIKE the receiver when you are finished.
6. I even SPIKE my envelopes when I pay my bills !!!
I could go on and on but I think you get the picture. USE YOUR IMAGINATION !!!

One question that I get quite frequently is, “How do I start up a conversation about my business? How do I approach someone COLD CALL style?” Well, I am reminded of a story I heard a long time ago that, in a nutshell, came down to this…
“Everyone of us is born with two ears and one mouth. If you listen twice as much as you talk you will go a lot further in life !!!”
How that applies to that question is this. LISTEN constantly. People have no problem complaining about the things in their life that they don’t like. I promise you won’t have to listen long. Listen standing in the checkout line at the grocery. Listen in line at the bank. Listen while you’re at the laundry mat. Listen while you’re in the doctor’s office. PEOPLE COMPLAIN OUT LOUD !!! They’re not at all bashful about it. And that is YOUR opportunity.
Why do people buy a product or service? Why do people join a business? To solve a problem in their life. People make purchasing and participation decisions with their emotions. When you hear someone complaining about something in their life they don’t like, that is your chance to tell them about the solution that YOU have for them. Some of the sweetest music to my ears is to hear someone whine about their job or complain that they don’t have enough time with their family and friends.
Oh yes, one of my other favorite things to do is to go shopping somewhere like Wal-Mart where I KNOW that poor lady is going to be REQUIRED to ask me how I’m doing !!! Believe me, I’m MORE than happy to tell her and explain to her how she could be doing just the same, as I’m handing her a business card of course !!! I guess what I’m trying to say is that if you take a little of the mechanics OUT of business and put the emotions back INTO it, I will bet you that your rate of success will increase. Of course, always remember that the key ingredient is SINCERETY. This is NOT some lame form of trickery. Merely a method of opening yourself to opportunity.

Well, I suppose I should close for now and feed my dog Shelby. She is giving me those “Hey, remember me?” eyes. People, animals have one trait that most humans can only DREAM of ever having… UNCONDITIONAL LOVE !!! Nothing puts me into a state of joy and happiness quicker than to spend time with my furry friend. Next time you’re in a big tizzy over something just pause and take a moment to be envious of the simplicity of their lives. A life where the only thing needed for survival besides food and water is LOVE……….

I’m sure you have all heard the saying, “People don’t plan to fail. They fail to plan !!!” Now, this is normally quoted in reference to the business world and similar situations but make no mistake about it. Most lessons can be applied to ALL aspects of your life. Case in point, I’m running a little behind today because I got sloppy with that lesson.
TRAVEL TIP OF THE DAY: If you PLAN on going visiting in excess of 100 miles from your home and you PLAN on doing this on a motorcycle it is HIGHLY ADVISABLE to seek the guidance of your local weather channel when PLANNING your trip !!!
The lesson to be learned here is to NEVER get so comfortable with the way you do things that you stop being focused on the basics. Never run you business OR your personal life with the “Wet finger in the air” method. Always stick to the system that is in place and always make sure you have ALL the information available to you whether you think you need it or not. You see, I got on my Harley this morning with the “I’ve been doing this for years. I don‘t need to check the forecast” mentality and I sit here typing this newsletter to you with wet socks on. THE BASICS WILL NEVER FAIL YOU !!!

Ok, the first thing I want to go over is making your expenses PAY YOU. For many people, especially those of you who may be new to the internet and internet marketing, almost ALL of the businesses whose services you will use whether it is banner advertising, web hosting, site building, etc. will have an affiliate program. An affiliate program simply means that you sign up as an affiliate with the vendor whose services you are using and they give you an ID number. It will usually be attached to a text or banner link.
As you refer other people to utilize their services they will pay you a small fee for each referral. For example, if you look on the FAV LINKS page of my site (www.letmemakeyousuccessful.com) you will see several banners advertising various products and services. Each of these banners has MY affiliate ID number attached to it so anytime someone uses the services of one of these vendors by clicking on their banner on my site I make a commission. See how something so simple can bring your expenses down and quite frequently actually generate a pretty descent stream of income?

The next thing I want to touch on briefly is the old saying, “Fake it till you make it.” Now, properly utilized this can be very beneficial to you in the business arena, HOWEVER, some people tend to take it to a level that quite often does more harm than good. The main reason for that is that they put all their focus on LARGE changes in their lifestyle. They will do crazy things like go out and lease a new car that they can’t afford, buy expensive watches and jewelry or start taking their clients out to fancy restaurants that are way out of their budget. Yes, these things DO create the appearance of success around you but they can also TAKE YOU DOWN !!!
If you want to APPEAR successful while you work to make it happen then try these SENSIBLE approaches:
1. Start waxing and detailing your present car.
2. Keep your home presentable and your lawn well groomed if you entertain clients at home.
3. Men, keep a nice, fresh and clean haircut and keep all mustaches and beards trimmed.
4. Ladies, get a neat hairstyle and keep your makeup and jewelry conservative.
5. Men and Women, keep you dress clothes cleaned and pressed.
6. Men, keep a shine on your shoes.
7. Watch your posture and start carrying yourself differently.
8. Watch your attitude and make sure you are always positive and upbeat.
9. Avoid inappropriate habits. Don’t chew gum, smoke, etc. when in the business arena.
10. And MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL….. WATCH YOUR MOUTH !!! If you want to appear Successful and On Top Of Your Game you need to police what you say. Avoid slang and inappropriate conversation when around clients or potential clients. And NEVER, while trying to establish a connection with someone on a business level, bring religion or politics into the conversation !!!
These may seem simple and to many people they may seem like common sense but I guarantee you that if you were a fly on the wall of a corporate productivity meeting of a large company, the low producers would be in violation of AT LEAST 80 % of these guidelines. It’s ok to “Fake it till you make it.” Just do it the RIGHT WAY !!!

And lastly today, since we are on the subject of success, I would like to go over the actual meaning of the word SUCCESS. “Why”, you may say. Well, quite simply because far too many people seem to have a skewed understanding about what SUCCESS really is. People, you CANNOT measure success with decimal points alone !!!
Webster defines success as: favorable or desired outcome, the attainment of wealth, favor or eminence.
Now, I don’t know about you but when I read that definition I don’t get the idea that SUCCESS is just about money. Yes, wealth is a PART of success but only a part. My father died broke and in debt but he was a PHENOMENAL pianist. While he never acquired wealth in his life he still had a lot of success in his life because he was able to bring years and years of happiness to many people with his music. The point is that having money does NOT make you successful and not having it does NOT make you unsuccessful.
You must focus on being successful in ALL aspects of your life. You should strive to be successful in your relationships, your spiritual walk, your health and YES, in your financial life. Think about it for a minute. All of these areas affect each other. Any one of these areas that has problems will weaken the other areas. If your spiritual walk has problems it often times affects your relationships. If you health has problems it often times affects you ability to work and make money. I think you get the idea.
I have found that the best way to keep balance in all areas and to have the greatest opportunity for SUCCESS in all these areas is, believe it or not, TIME MANAGEMENT !!! I’m serious. Make time to work on all these areas. Block off time to attend your local church. Block off time to spend with your family and strengthen your relationships. Block off time to get some exercise and I promise you that there will be plenty of time left to make money. How can I promise that? Because when all those other areas are in harmony you have a much lower stress level and you will be able to be more focused on your work and you productivity and success in that area will SKYROCKET !!!
Just remember what Zig Ziglar said, “Success is never final, failure is never fatal and it's only courage that counts.”

Wow !!! Where has the week gone? There seems to be a lot of truth to the old saying that time flies when you’re having fun. And I have CERTAINLY been having fun! Working in the area of personal development is such a rewarding path in life. I am blessed to meet and work with some of the most dynamic and inspiring people on the planet. I have been in the business of Network Marketing for a number of years but the last year that I have spent with Success University has LITERALLY changed my life. And now I am blessed with the opportunity to share my experiences and knowledge with all of you so that we may all continue to grow together.

I have spent a lot of time the last week thinking of various projects that I believe will be the most beneficial to all of us. I would like to cover them here today one at a time…
1. I am currently constructing an FAQ page on my personal site. What I would like from each of you is for you to e-mail me with any particular questions you may have and then I will post your question along with the answer to it on that page so that everyone may benefit from it. The questions may be about anything you like. Also, the questions you ask will give me some insight as to particular areas to cover in the newsletter in the future.
2. I feel that unity and a feeling of FAMILY contribute enormously to the ability of any team to succeed in reaching their goals. We are a very diversified group, each with our own business and/or personal goals but no matter what your individual goals are, we all have the common goal of SUCCESS. That having been said, sometimes when we rely on our own self-motivating abilities we fall short. It’s far too easy to sometimes justify why we didn’t accomplish all the things that we should have for the week. That is why I have decided to implement a group accountability service. I will act as the personal accountability partner for anyone who requests it. In addition, if you would like to help and volunteer to act as someone’s personal accountability partner I will assist in pairing you up with someone. You will be amazed at how much more you will accomplish. TRUST ME, that phone gets really heavy when you have to pick it up to call your partner and give them your list of EXCUSES for that week !!!
3. Actually, this project is already in place so this is more of a reminder but, as promised, I have spent this week getting some items on my FREE STUFF page. Now, those of you with Success University will notice immediately that you may already have a few of the items but there is also many on there that you do not.. Those of you who are stepping outside the box and creating your own online presence with your own personal site like I am using will find three items in particular of great value…

Now, I know some of you are WANTING to strike out and do your own thing but maybe you lack the technical know-how or have some other form of stumbling block in your way. I’m pretty busy most of the time but I will always do what I can within reason. Also, I plan to cover various areas of that subject in upcoming editions of the newsletter but I do understand that sometimes you need some actual one-on-one to learn a new skill.
For those of you that did not already know this and since I haven’t completed construction of my web-site page concerning it, I would like to announce that I am writing a book on the decision making process, how it affects your day to day life and my own formula for proper decision making. It’s not due to go to print till probably early spring and I, as of yet, do not have a working title but I will update you on it’s progress as developments occur. I would like to shift gears now if I may. My true passion in life is working in the area of personal
motivation and overcoming what life throws at you. I would like to share a story with you that has always inspired me. What I love the most about it is it’s SIMPLICITY. Sometimes the simplest solution to a problem is the most effective. The story goes like this…
There once was a very mean farmer and he had a mule. He worked this mule extremely hard and as time went by the poor mule grew more and more weary. Finally, one day while pulling a very heavy plow in the sweltering sun the mule finally collapsed. “You worthless nag !” , the farmer exclaimed. “I’ll fix you !”.
With that, the farmer dug a huge hole on the back of the farm. It was at least 5 feet deeper than the mule was tall. He then proceeded to coax the mule near the hole and, with a blast from his shotgun, startled the mule causing it to fall in the hole. The sadistic farmer was going to bury the poor mule alive.
He began throwing the dirt in the hole shovel full after shovel full. Well, the mule wasn’t just going to stand still when the dirt was thrown in on him so, in a panic, it began to try to climb the walls of the hole. Now, obviously it wasn’t going to be able to climb the walls but because of it’s efforts something miraculous began to happen.
Each time the farmer would throw a shovel of dirt in the hole the mule, because of all it’s panic and struggling, was shaking the dirt off it’s back and stepping on the dirt. The more the farmer threw in the hole, the more the mule struggled, and so the hole began to fill up but the mule was constantly staying on top of the dirt. The farmer was shoveling so frantically that he didn’t realize what was happening and, before you know it, the mule had risen close enough to the surface that he was able to jump out of the hole and run away.
People, I think that this story should make one point crystal clear to you. And that point is this. Life is constantly throwing all of us in a hole and throwing dirt in on us. The difference in the outcome is how we react. If you stand still and do nothing YOU’RE GONNA GET COVERED !!! But if you will put a steady and consistent effort into conquering the adversity, you will finally rise to the surface and make it back out of that hole !!!
So, the next time you find yourself in a hole just remember that poor mule… No matter what the circumstances, the worst thing you can possibly do is NOTHING !!!

Wow !!! Where has the week gone? There seems to be a lot of truth to the old saying that time flies when you’re having fun. And I have CERTAINLY been having fun! Working in the area of personal development is such a rewarding path in life. I am blessed to meet and work with some of the most dynamic and inspiring people on the planet. I have been in the business of Network Marketing for a number of years but the last year that I have spent with Success University has LITERALLY changed my life. And now I am blessed with the opportunity to share my experiences and knowledge with all of you so that we may all continue to grow together.

I have spent a lot of time the last week thinking of various projects that I believe will be the most beneficial to all of us. I would like to cover them here today one at a time…
1. I am currently constructing an FAQ page on my personal site. What I would like from each of you is for you to e-mail me with any particular questions you may have and then I will post your question along with the answer to it on that page so that everyone may benefit from it. The questions may be about anything you like. Also, the questions you ask will give me some insight as to particular areas to cover in the newsletter in the future.
2. I feel that unity and a feeling of FAMILY contribute enormously to the ability of any team to succeed in reaching their goals. We are a very diversified group, each with our own business and/or personal goals but no matter what your individual goals are, we all have the common goal of SUCCESS. That having been said, sometimes when we rely on our own self-motivating abilities we fall short. It’s far too easy to sometimes justify why we didn’t accomplish all the things that we should have for the week. That is why I have decided to implement a group accountability service. I will act as the personal accountability partner for anyone who requests it. In addition, if you would like to help and volunteer to act as someone’s personal accountability partner I will assist in pairing you up with someone. You will be amazed at how much more you will accomplish. TRUST ME, that phone gets really heavy when you have to pick it up to call your partner and give them your list of EXCUSES for that week !!!
3. Actually, this project is already in place so this is more of a reminder but, as promised, I have spent this week getting some items on my FREE STUFF page. Now, those of you with Success University will notice immediately that you may already have a few of the items but there is also many on there that you do not.. Those of you who are stepping outside the box and creating your own online presence with your own personal site like I am using will find three items in particular of great value…

Now, I know some of you are WANTING to strike out and do your own thing but maybe you lack the technical know-how or have some other form of stumbling block in your way. I’m pretty busy most of the time but I will always do what I can within reason. Also, I plan to cover various areas of that subject in upcoming editions of the newsletter but I do understand that sometimes you need some actual one-on-one to learn a new skill.
For those of you that did not already know this and since I haven’t completed construction of my web-site page concerning it, I would like to announce that I am writing a book on the decision making process, how it affects your day to day life and my own formula for proper decision making. First of all, let me tell you what I'm all about. I am a very upbeat,
positive person. I DETEST negativity and blame it for the majority of
people's failures. You will quickly discover that I am very straight
forward and I will tell what you NEED to hear, not necessarily what you
WANT to hear !!! I don't believe in holding people's hands and crying
with them over what is wrong in their life or business. I believe that
is wasted energy that could be much more effectively used to create a
SOLUTION.
Winston Churchill said, "You create your own universe as you go along."
There is a lot of power in that statement. There is a lot of POWER IN
YOUR OWN THOUGHTS. Those of you that are familiar with the law of
attraction know what I am talking about. Anyone that is unfamiliar with
the law of attraction needs to go to www.thesecret.tv and watch the
movie. You can either watch it directly from the site or you can
purchase it. I am not affiliated with www.thesecret.tv nor do I receive

just something I believe in whole heartedly !!!
Folks, I have pretty much lived the full gamete of life. I've been
poor and I've been prosperous... I've been hungry and I've been full...
I've been cold and I've been warm... I've been unloved and I've been
loved... and in retrospect I can honestly say that in each of those
cases, the less desirable of the two could have been prevented. You are
in control of your own life whether it feels like it or not. Your
actions... your thoughts put you to the place that you are in EACH AND
EVERY DAY OF YOUR LIFE !!! That's a little hard to swallow sometimes
but, hey, it's true.
This first edition of this newsletter was not really to get into
anything in particular but rather to touch on the subject of MINDSET.
You can take on the world with the right mindset. And with the wrong one
you will NEVER WIN. I don't care what your qualifications are. You can
have all the training available, you can have an IQ of 140 and you can
have UNLIMITED RESOURCES but if your mind is not in the right place it
will all fall to pieces.
Henry Ford said, "Whether you think you can or think you can't, either
way you are right."
This is the main point I strive to impress upon people when I coach them.
You have to see yourself as a winner from the word go. You have to
succeed in your own mind before you can manifest it in the real world.
For me to try to help anyone in any area of their life would be an effort
in futility if I had not first gotten through to them on this one thing.
And it's something that YOU need to get in touch with !!! As the weeks
go by I will be covering everything from places to advertise for FREE, to
technical issues, to just plain motivation and how to keep it going.
But first you MUST acquire a WINNING MINDSET !!! You will be amazed at
how fast your personal, professional and spiritual life will improve.
Well, now that we have spent a little time together , I will leave you
with these closing thoughts and look forward to next weeks edition.
Also, sometime in the next few weeks, I will begin conducting LIVE
tele-seminars and webinars. I'll keep you posted as things develop.
