As you will remember, I spoke of a special email I was going to send out this week in regards to both the enrollment contest with Success University and also a very special announcement that I was going to make, also having to do with Success University. Ok, I have a question for you. Is your email becoming a MONSTER !!!??? Out of control email can be a HUGE problem if you don’t do something about it. I have six different accounts and I started out learning the hard way that letting it get out of control and becoming unorganized can not only be a nasty headache but it can cost you lots of valuable time and resources.
You see, several things happen if you are not careful here. You misplace emails that you need to refer to later, you end up with so much in your inbox AND your spam filter that often times important emails (maybe even ones that you are expecting) get lost in the mess and, finally, you waste MUCH of your valuable time wading through this lake of chaos !!! But, there are ways to stop this from happening…..
First of all, STOP SIGNING UP FOR EVERYTHING YOU ARE OFFERED !!! Yes, FREE is always nice but what is the point in signing up for every free e-zine on the planet if you don’t have time to read it? And if you do sign up for something, always remember that you can UNSUBSCRIBE late if it becomes apparent that you are receiving the information at a rate greater than that at which you can handle OR that the information is of no real value to you and your particular circumstances. Unsubscribing from it now takes a LOT less time than deleting it every time there after !!!
Second, learn how to operate your mail server. Any one that I have ever seen has the capability for you to set up folders. I believe some of them can even be set up to automatically put your mail into specific folders based on the email address it originated from. But even if you have to do it manually, at least you keep it out of the way until you have time to read it as opposed to letting your inbox take on a life of it’s own !!! Also, if you want to access something of a particular nature, you don’t have to spend unnecessary time scrolling through page after page of emails because you will have it in it’s own neat little folder. Folders are great for uncluttering your INBOX and, also, to help you organize your email in a very productive way.
Third, when you do receive something in your INBOX that is obviously junk take the time to mark it as such so that in the future you won’t have to deal with it again. It may take you a couple of seconds to do but just think of all the time you will waste in the future deleting it every time if you don’t.
Remember, I learned this stuff the hard way. Now, you don’t have to. Believe me when I tell you that you can’t even BEGIN to understand how much time you will waste with out of control email until you wake up one morning and have OVER 4,000 EMAILS in your INBOX !!!!!!! And, remember also that I have six accounts !!!

You know, I was looking at the calendar today and was thinking about the fact that tomorrow is the first day of October when it hit me… It’s less than 90 days till Christmas !!! It’s less than 60 days till Thanksgiving !!! The reason that’s important to me is because I have a very soft spot in my heart for the unfortunate. And the simple fact of the matter is that this time of year is the hardest for them. The hungry only able to dream of a turkey dinner… the elderly in the nursing homes and the homeless only able to dream of a glass of egg nog with the family by the fireplace… the poor families having to explain why Santa likes the rich kids more and gives them nicer presents or any presents at all…
When you are working diligently at your business of choice and striving to provide nothing but the absolute best for your family and yourself while suffering the hard knocks that come with being an entrepreneur, it’s easier than you might realize to forget just how blessed you are. It’s not that you do it on purpose. It’s just with all the commercialization and hype surrounding the holidays anymore, the less fortunate tend to get overlooked.
I know what you’re saying, “Wow Jeff, don’t you think it’s just a little early for all this ?” Actually, no I don’t. The reason is simple. When you run your business, do you wait till you’re out of supplies before you order? Do you wait till the day of the sale to advertise? No, of course not. In business it’s all about time management and proper planning, right? Well, it’s the same when it comes to charity. Start planning on what you want to do this year RIGHT NOW !!!
And I don’t mean give a five dollar toy to some Angel Tree !!! DO SOMETHING !!! Make it personal. Take a Saturday to work in a local soup kitchen and see the gratitude in their eyes. Go visiting in your local nursing homes and actually sit and talk with those amazing people that have years of wonderful stories to tell. Take a local family under your wing and MAKE SURE Santa shows up with some descent goodies. Put out all this POSITIVE ENERGY and let these people feed on it. You will receive blessings upon blessings, the likes of which you have never experienced before.
Many of you may not know who I am talking about and I highly recommend you do a little research but I would like to tell you briefly of a man by the name of Larry Stewart (aka Secret Santa) . He was a man that, in the course of his life, went around to thrift stores and Laundromats and gave away over ONE MILLION DOLLARS in cash totally at random to those he felt needed it. He has been called to be with God now but his memory and legacy live on in many other people who have adopted Larry’s way of helping those in need. The following is a quote from Larry…..

Now, I’m not suggesting that you go out giving away 100 dollar bills like Larry. The point is simply that no matter how small or what the nature of a random act of kindness is, you just never know how dramatically , whether directly or indirectly, you may change someone else’s life.
You can say that I brought this up too early all you want to but you and I both know that as the days go by and the intensity of the holidays begins to grow in leaps and bounds, the wheels you don’t put in motion now will probably not get put in motion. Start planning TODAY what you are going to do this holiday season….. Because we all know that, BY DEFINITION, tomorrow never gets here.

If you look on my website, http://www.letmemakeyousuccessful.com/links , you will see a banner that says SEND EARNINGS. It is free to sign up and there are several ways there to make money. You can get paid to read emails sent to you by their sponsors (it’s not much but money is money), you can make one dollar for every survey that you take (limit one per day but that’s still 30 dollars a month and the surveys only require about 10 to 15 min. of your time) and you can take advantage of trial offers by their sponsors. This is where the best money is. It’s pretty self explanatory. I’ll give you an example.… They have one sponsor who’s product is online postage. You sign up for their service, get 5 dollars worth of FREE postage, use them for 30 days then cancel if you like and SEND EARNINGS puts 5 dollars in your account. Every time you reach (I believe) 30 dollars you can request payment and they will send you a check. So often I talk to people and they are all worked up over what they DON’T know about running their business. They CAN’T do this and they CAN’T do that !!! Here we go with the negativity again. Stop even THINKING about what you CAN’T DO !!! Sit down and make a list of all your abilities. I don’t mean just things that you think are business related. I mean just in general. Maybe you can draw well. What does that have to do with your business, you say? Well, maybe you can do well at flyer advertising. Maybe you are very articulate so you might want to make an audio clip for your website. Maybe you can’t speak well but you have a knack for writing so you could do your own ad copy or write your own email ads. Just figure out what you can do well and DO ALL THAT YOU CAN DO !!!
Les Brown said, “If there is a message in you it will find a way to get out !!!” If you are passionate about what you do, your mind will find a way to convey that to people if you are still long enough to listen to your own thoughts. Have you ever just been riding along, enjoying the drive, and taking in the scenery then all of a sudden a revelation just SMACKS YOU IN THE FACE ?!!!!! My mind is always turning, twisting and churning things around to look at them from all angles in an effort to find things to compare them to that everyone can relate to. Well, today I hit pay dirt on one of those things.
I was just going down a country road on my bike (yes, I live on my bike and visit my house occasionally) when it dawned on me that life is like a day at the park. It really is and when you add the business factor into it you can make even more sense out of it.
First of all, you have to show up at the park. That’s no big deal. Just about anybody will show up. They might not do much after they get there but they will usually at least show up. This would be the equivalent of making the decision to do something….. ANYTHING with your life. Some people may choose less than desirable career paths BUT at least they showed up at the park !!!
Ok, now it’s decision time. “Which ride do I ride ???” you may ask yourself. Well, here is where the initial filtering out process begins. This is where people either choose to ride a roller coaster or a merry go round. The sad part is that most people are going to choose the merry go round. Do you know why??? Because they can do it and still stay inside their Comfort Zone. You see, the merry go round, while taking you absolutely nowhere but in big circles and being quite monotonous, is basically the safest ride in the park. That’s why most people are never successful. That’s why most people never realize their dreams. They are so afraid of stepping outside that Comfort Zone that they choose Safety now over Financial Security later.
Great, so you chose the roller coaster !!! Excellent choice. Ok, let me talk you through the ride…..
First you walk up and get in line. That’s the hardest part, making that commitment to get in there with all the other brave entrepreneurs. You see, since success is 80 % mindset and 20 % ability, by making the choice to go for what you want is the biggest part of the process.
Next, you get in the car. This is where you put action into your commitment. This is where you actually start your business. You buy business cards, set up advertising, research your market, purchase inventory, or what ever is required of your particular business to make it fully functional. You have put things in motion and there is no turning back now. THE HARNESS JUST LOWERED OVER YOUR HEAD AND THE LOCK JUST WENT “CLICK” !!!
Finally, you hear the rush of air as the brakes release and your car begins to roll away from the dock. You fight the urge to scream and beg for the attendant to let you out as you tell yourself “I’M GOING TO DO THIS….. I’M GOING TO DO THIS !!!”. Then, after a few seconds of self doubt, you gather yourself and feel the rush of excitement as you realize that you really are going to DO THIS !!!
Now, here is where it gets rough. Success is not the wave of a magic wand. IT’S HARD !!! IT’S WORK !!! IT’S COMMITMENT TO DOING WHAT OTHERS DON’T SO YOU CAN HAVE WHAT OTHERS WON’T !!! You begin the ascent up what seems like a mountain with no top. It’s a slow, arduous and draining trip. It seems like it’s never going to end. You hear the laboring CLANK, CLANK, CLANK of the chain as you overcome bump after bump on the way up. But, as the old saying goes, you’ve come too far to turn back now. You hang on and hold your breath for what seems like an eternity then…………….
What’s this? You think you see the top?….. Can it be ??? Can it be that, after making the decision to ride, feeling your stomach do flips when everything finally started moving and taking a taxing trip to the top that was so long and stressful that you don’t have words to describe it, it’s PAY OFF TIME ??? Yes, you’ve done it !!! You have made it to the top and now you have in front of you what can only be described as THE RIDE OF YOUR LIFE !!!
Ladies and gentleman, I know the merry go round is safe, I know it’s easy and I know there is very little chance that anything can or will go wrong but when the ride is over you have to ask yourself one question…….. “Was THAT worth showing up to the park for ???”.

I always tell everyone I meet that there are lots of ways to make money online and off but that the issue is NOT who has the best compensation plan and it is NOT who has the best product or service. The real issue is two simple things… Does the company have a simple, duplicable system that requires NO special skills or training AND is it comprised of QUALITY people that really care about and take a personal interest in your success? Well, I have come to the conclusion that we could dramatically increase the quality and success levels of everyone’s lives by the elimination of certain words and phrases in our language completely !!! I know that we could easily do without ones such as MAYBE, CAN’T, IF, I THINK I CAN, I’LL TRY, ETC. These all have one common factor. They all put conditions on your success and basically verbalize your acknowledgement that you don’t expect results. This is one of the HARDEST things that I help people to overcome when I work with them on their particular issues. Their mouths are COMPLETELY out of control !!!
Take for example the phrase “I’ll try”. Look at it and interpret it literally. The word TRY by Webster’s own definition means “To make an attempt at…”. I don’t know about you but when I set out to do something, merely making an attempt is NOT going to produce the desired result. By the power of your own words you have doomed whatever it is that you wish to accomplish.
Based on the rules of the Law of Attraction, what you think about is what you create in your world. Your words are simply a manifestation of your thoughts. Which brings us to another problem. Did you know that statistically 87% of the thoughts of the average person are negative and that is PURELY because of the negative environment they live in. Did you also know that the average person has 60,000 thoughts a day? That’s a LOT of negative energy flying around loose !!!
So, you see, you are in a constant battle with not only your own thoughts but the thoughts of those around you. Kind of makes you think twice about the company you keep, doesn’t it? But on the reverse side of that coin is that you can counter those effects by having more POSITIVE people in your life. You see, in a Universe where LIKE ATTRACTS LIKE, it works for your thoughts and energy too. So, as you begin to have more positive people in your life then your positive energy level begins to grow. And, since LIKE ATTRACTS LIKE, it will start a chain reaction in you that will begin to change the way you think and those negative thoughts will begin to disappear, thus eliminating all those negative words and phrases from your day to day life. You have effectively TAKEN THE BULLETS OUT OF THE GUN !!! Believe me when I tell you that after a while you will not only notice a difference in the way you talk but also a DRAMATIC difference in your energy level and how you feel in general. Give it a try. You’ll be glad you did.
FUN EXERCISE: When you were a kid, did you ever have a penalty jar? You know, like if you did something on a consistent basis that you knew you weren’t supposed to, every time you did it you had to put a quarter in the jar? Well, try this with your negative words. Every time you use a negative word like TRY, MAYBE, CAN’T, ETC. put a quarter in the jar. Then, you can either use the money to buy some good self improvement products like a book, cd or dvd OR you will stop using those words. Either way you win !!!

NOTE: If it seems sometimes that I spend a lot more time on things like this rather than on more practical application things such as marketing, I am GUILTY AS CHARGED !!! Don’t forget, success in your business is always going to be 80% ATTITUDE and 20% APTITUDE. In a world where your thoughts control your very existence, these issues should be MUCH more your focal point than the nuts and bolts of things. But, don’t worry, we’re going to stay on top of that too.

Ok, I feel really led to share this story with you. It ties in directly with what I talked about earlier concerning you thoughts and words. Sometimes when you are dealing with things that you consider insignificant it is easy to fall to the way side in your monitoring of your thoughts and words. And, since I’m just as human as the next person and I, like everyone else, make mistakes……….
Today I had to run some errands and, it being a beautiful day here in Tn, I decided to run them on my Harley. For days and days I had been having problems with my cell phone and I had grown increasingly intolerant of the situation. Without even realizing it, I had been letting seemingly harmless little phrases escape my mouth. You know, phrases like “Piece of junk!!!” and “I want a new phone!!!” and so on. Well, it has been said to be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. Today I finally came to the realization of EXACTLY what that means. It means that you better be SPECIFIC in your requests and you had better make them in a positive way.
Yes, that’s right folks. After making just one too many SEEMINGLY HARMLESS comments about my distain for my cell phone, SOMEWHERE…… AT SOME POINT……. AT 75 MPH……. ON A 30 MILE STRETCH OF FREEWAY…….. I GOT RID OF MY “PIECE OF JUNK !!!” I think maybe it was the bumps in the constructions zone. The real irony is that just yesterday I threw away my old spare while cleaning out my office. Now, I WILL say this. Thanks to my extreme focus on positive thinking (except when it comes to my cell phone….LOL) I actually, not even for a moment was upset. In fact, after it dawned on me what had happened I actually burst out laughing. Anyway, I thought you might find my little story entertaining as well as enlightening. I suppose I’ll be getting that new phone now……………

I’ve been thinking about what would be a good subject to touch on from a technical standpoint and since I’ve received no requests for anything specific so far, I thought I would touch on something that everyone needs to know about. You really need to have your own website even if the company you work for supplies you with one. A company supplied website is great for the purpose it serves but it gives you no identity. It gives you no way to relate to your clients and potential clients on a personal level and we all know that purchases are made with emotion as the motivator.
Most people think that they have only one of two choices. They think that they either have to learn HTML (which you will NOT do overnight !!!) or they will have to pay someone hundreds or even thousands of dollars to build one for them. There is another way. It’s called style sheets and drag-n-drop. There are many companies out there that will GIVE you the program FREE of charge. All you pay them is for their hosting services. The programs themselves are generally very user friendly and with just a little practice and patience you can crank out some pretty cool sites. Yes, I promote a specific one on my website but I personally don’t care who’s you use. I just promote that particular one because it is the easiest to use, the tech support is great and it has an affiliate program built into it so it becomes an income stream as well.
Also, if you decide to use this particular one that I recommend, since I’m familiar with the program I can be of assistance to you as well as the company providing the program. Just don’t let your lack of programming abilities either keep you from having a site at all or, worse yet, let someone take you for a FINANCIAL RIDE by having them build it for you !!! It’s really not rocket science. If you can follow simple instructions and have at least a basic working knowledge of things like CUT, PASTE, COPY, ETC. then you can have a site up and running in no time. And if you lack in even the most basic of computer skills then get with me and we’ll deal with that too. I’m always ready to help stretch an eager mind. I love to teach and, as I’ve pointed out before, every time I teach one of you something I learn something in the process.

TIP OF THE DAY: Take the time to clean out your office, briefcases and wallet/purse. I decided it was long over due for me and just when I thought I had exhausted my warm market, I found 48 business cards of people I had not spoken to in a long time.
Well, it’s been a pleasure and an honor as usual. I only hope that my words have touched you in some kind of a positive way and maybe even made you smile. Keep the calls and emails coming. Oh, yea, for the time being you’ll only be able to reach me on my office phone or via email. LOL.

I’ve been thinking a lot about one of this week’s topics. It is a subject that really hits home in the business world and PARTICULARLY in the world of DIRECT SALES and NETWORK MARKETING. It’s the POWER OF PERSUASION and being able to get the other person to see things your way. Let’s face it. If you don’t make a psychological sale you don’t make ANY !!! People buy or participate based on emotion and you selling YOURSELF rather than your product or opportunity. But one must be careful here. You should never confuse persuasion with manipulation. Manipulation causes you to get your way at the moment but is a fleeting victory. Persuasion lasts long after you are gone and the person continues to believe that they have made the right choice. This will come back to benefit you later in the form of repeat sales, referrals, etc. Also, manipulation usually implies that you convinced someone else of something that you yourself DO NOT BELIEVE !!! You simply convinced THEM in order to make the sale or get the sign-up and that is just wrong. I would like to reference a quote by Jeffrey Gitomer:
“You have to believe that by persuading the other person you are helping them - and that after you have persuaded them, they will BENEFIT.”
You see, self-belief in what you do is CRITICAL and is the defining ingredient that separates PERSUASION from MANIPULATION. You have to feel good about what you do and what you have to offer. It shows in your presentation and it can be felt in the air. Have you ever been at the mall and had one of those kiosk operators CORNER you as you passed by to demo what they were selling? Have you ever felt a higher level of INSINCERITY in your entire life? Sounds like they are just reciting from a memorized script, doesn’t it? Well, if you don’t believe in what you do and what you have to offer then you, my friend, are being perceived in the exact same manner. Manipulation comes from the head but persuasion comes from the heart.
That’s why I am so passionate about my Success University business!!! I am doing something and am part of something that I can be proud of . I was telling everyone on Mike Ward’s training call just a couple of weeks ago that even if I didn’t do it as a business, I would want to be a part of it ANYWAY !!! The benefits that I have encountered and the changes to my life have been nothing short of PHENOMENAL!!! That’s how passionate I am about what I do and what I have to offer and it is that VERY passion that is assuring my success. Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not implying that you should work for FREE. I’m simply saying that you need to ask yourself one question… “Do I believe in what I am doing ENOUGH that even if I didn’t need to, would I do it anyway?” If you can answer YES to that question then your sincerity will exude from you like the scent of a beautiful rose and you will have the POWER OF PERSUASION that will take your business to new heights and cause you to grow in ways you never before thought possible.

I was speaking with a good friend of mine the other day and I told them that doing this newsletter has been such a joyous undertaking for me. But, not only that, it has been a learning experience for me. When all of you email and call me with your questions and various areas you wish to learn about you cause me to learn as well. The best way to be a good teacher is to be a good student and each time one of you picks my brain it gives me cause to delve even deeper into things and learn even more than I already know. Often times one of you will ask me something that maybe I am unsure of and, consequently, I have to do a little research. Well, most of the time that research not only answers YOUR question but causes me to stumble across some important piece of information that I didn’t already know so we BOTH won !!! So, PLEASE, keep those questions coming. Together, we will continue to take in all life’s lessons TOGETHER !!!

I would like to cover something that I feel is VITAL to your success in business or even in life in general. I’m sure that you have heard this a million times but I would like to put it into perspective for you so that you understand why each is a separate quality that relies on the other two to create the desired effect in your business.
You need to be…
TEACHABLE: Teachable means that you have the ability to absorb information. However, It does not mean that you can be trained to utilize that information in a practical situation.
TRAINABLE: Trainable means that you are able to take what you have learned and put it into use in a practical situation. However, it does not mean that you can be self-motivated enough to do that.
COACHABLE: Coachable means that you can be motivated through proper support and resources to perform a given task. However, being coachable in worthless unless you have to first two qualities.
Now, I don’t know about you but the first time anybody ever said to me, “As long as you’re teachable, trainable and coachable I can assure you an advantage over everyone else in your business”, it didn’t click right away. I hope this helped to make it a little more clear what is meant by that.
All that having been said, there is one thing that is an ABSOLUTE MUST if you ever want to get to that place in your life where you want to be. I would like to leave all of you with this thought…

People buy or participate based on emotion and you selling YOURSELF rather than your product or opportunity. But one must be careful here. You should never confuse persuasion with manipulation. Manipulation causes you to get your way at the moment but is a fleeting victory. Persuasion lasts long after you are gone and the person continues to believe that they have made the right choice. This will come back to benefit you later in the form of repeat sales, referrals, etc. Also, manipulation usually implies that you convinced someone else of something that you yourself DO NOT BELIEVE !!! You simply convinced THEM in order to make the sale or get the sign-up and that is just wrong. I would like to reference a quote by Jeffrey Gitomer:
“You have to believe that by persuading the other person you are helping them - and that after you have persuaded them, they will BENEFIT.”
You see, self-belief in what you do is CRITICAL and is the defining ingredient that separates PERSUASION from MANIPULATION. You have to feel good about what you do and what you have to offer. It shows in your presentation and it can be felt in the air. Have you ever been at the mall and had one of those kiosk operators CORNER you as you passed by to demo what they were selling? Have you ever felt a higher level of INSINCERITY in your entire life? Sounds like they are just reciting from a memorized script, doesn’t it? Well, if you don’t believe in what you do and what you have to offer then you, my friend, are being perceived in the exact same manner. Manipulation comes from the head but persuasion comes from the heart.
That’s why I am so passionate about my Success University business!!! I am doing something and am part of something that I can be proud of . I was telling everyone on Mike Ward’s training call just a couple of weeks ago that even if I didn’t do it as a business, I would want to be a part of it ANYWAY !!! The benefits that I have encountered and the changes to my life have been nothing short of PHENOMENAL!!! That’s how passionate I am about what I do and what I have to offer and it is that VERY passion that is assuring my success. Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not implying that you should work for FREE. I was speaking with a good friend of mine the other day and I told them that doing this newsletter has been such a joyous undertaking for me. But, not only that, it has been a learning experience for me. When all of you email and call me with your questions and various areas you wish to learn about you cause me to learn as well. The best way to be a good teacher is to be a good student and each time one of you picks my brain it gives me cause to delve even deeper into things and learn even more than I already know. Often times one of you will ask me something that maybe I am unsure of and, consequently, I have to do a little research. I would like to cover something that I feel is VITAL to your success in business or even in life in general. I’m sure that you have heard this a million times but I would like to put it into perspective for you so that you understand why each is a separate quality that relies on the other two to create the desired effect in your business.
You need to be…
TEACHABLE: Teachable means that you have the ability to absorb information. However, It does not mean that you can be trained to utilize that information in a practical situation.
TRAINABLE: Trainable means that you are able to take what you have learned and put it into use in a practical situation. However, it does not mean that you can be self-motivated enough to do that.
COACHABLE: Coachable means that you can be motivated through proper support and resources to perform a given task. However, being coachable in worthless unless you have to first two qualities.
Now, I don’t know about you but the first time anybody ever said to me, “As long as you’re teachable, trainable and coachable I can assure you an advantage over everyone else in your business”, it didn’t click right away. I hope this helped to make it a little more clear what is meant by that.
All that having been said, there is one thing that is an ABSOLUTE MUST if you ever want to get to that place in your life where you want to be. I would like to leave all of you with this thought…

Well, it’s Labor Day weekend. A celebration observed annually in honor of the nations workers. The Dept. of Labor describes the Labor Day holiday as follows:
“Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.”

So many people get caught up in the celebration that they forget about WHY they are celebrating. Take time this holiday weekend to give yourself a much deserved pat on the back. Each and every one of you are making a HUGE contribution to not only your own future but the future of this country. I take my hat off to you. Without ALL our efforts the very infrastructure of this country would suffer. So, the next time you wonder if all the effort you put forth every day is worth it… The next time you question if you are making a difference…. I say to you that the unit is only as effective as the sum total of ALL it’s working parts !!!

One of the areas I want to touch on today is a couple of things that come up a lot in my conversations with my downline. These two things account for the vast majority of people getting frustrated in their businesses. They are PEOPLE NOT INTERESTED and ATTRITION.
The main reason these two things are such a problem is that most entrepreneurs make the mistake of taking their business too personally. I’m sure that at some point you have heard of the 80/20 rule application. In business 80 % of it is Mental and 20 % is Mechanical. You have to get up EVERY DAY and put on your Business Armor. You have to prepare yourself for the arrows that WILL be slung at you. You know, in life there are many things that are out of your control but one thing that you can ALWAYS control is your attitude.
In regards to PEOPLE NOT INTERESTED in your product or service, you have to grasp the fact that no matter how wonderful what you have is, some people are just not going to be interested. You cant pull your hair and scream “Why don’t they get it?“ Taking nutritional supplements is great but some people just AREN’T INTERESTED. Having your own home based business is great but some people just AREN’T INTERESTED. You just have to be able to say to yourself, “They are not interested. Let me go find someone that is.” You say, “Well Jeff, I’ve asked 30 people to take a look at what I’ve got and nobody did.” So ??? What if the 31st person is the next Up and Coming Master Marketer? What if the next person places an order for their whole company and puts it on Auto Ship? The difference between Winning and Losing begins with whether or not you STAY IN THE GAME !!! And one other thing… Always ask for referrals. Just because they are not interested doesn’t mean that they don’t know someone who is. Someone may have mentioned to them something about looking for the very thing you offer. In the words of the great Winston Churchill, “Never, never, never quit !!!”
Now, on the subject of ATTRITION you really have to be in control of your attitude. Your really have to put on your Business Armor for this one!!! Folks, listen carefully because I am going to tell you something that is absolutely Awe Inspiring and Inspirational. This one is really going to blow you away. In fact, you may want to write this down. Ok, got a pen and paper? Good…………….PEOPLE GO AWAY !!! CUSTOMERS GO AWAY !!! GET OVER IT !!! Don’t hire a research team to figure this one out ! We could spend hours covering the Why’s but that is another edition of the newsletter. Don’t focus on your attrition. You can’t help them. They are gone. In pro sports do they stop playing every time a player leaves the team??? Of course not. They just continue to train and work with the ones that are still there. Jim Rohn said, “The thorns will get some.” Don’t waste your time on Why. Use that time, energy and focus to help those still with you. NOBODY is immune to attrition. I experience everyday. Anyone who tells you they never lost a rep or a customer is either a liar or in HUGE denial !!! When it happens to you spend a minimal amount of time reflecting to see if there is possibly a lesson to learn from that particular incident then MOVE ON!!

Sometimes people ask me why I do this newsletter. They ask me why I would do something like put my home phone number out to what amounts to PERFECT STRANGERS and tie up so much of my time. Well, I could give them a standard response and tell them how much I love to help people but that would just roll off their backs so I like to tell them the story of the starfish…
Once there was a small child and his grandfather. One day they were walking along the beach and it was literally LITTERED with beached starfish. As they were walking and talking about things that children and their grandparents talk about, the grandfather would stop intermittently, pick up a starfish and throw it back into the ocean. Finally, his curiosity getting the best of him, the child said, “Grandpa, why are you throwing those starfish back into the water?” The grandfather replied, “Because they will die in the heat of the sun if they cannot get back into the water.” The little boy pondered the answer for a moment then said, “But grandpa, there are so many of them, what difference does it make?” The grandfather smiled, picked up another starfish, threw it in the water and said, “To THAT ONE it made all the difference in the world !!!”
None of us can help everybody but ALL of us can help SOMEBODY and that is the way life works. The Universe rewards positive action with positive action. Every good you do is a Set Up for a Step Up !!! You should NEVER pass up an opportunity to help another. And it should be an honorable form of help. No audiences, no trophies, and no expectations of a return favor. You will get what you give whether it is good or bad.

Let’s talk about CRITICISM for a moment. This is one that kicks way too many people in the teeth !!! It sends so many people running away from their dreams. There have been countless famous people in our history that would NEVER have achieved greatness if they had fell victim to their critics. I would say that it is a safe bet that 99 % of you did not know the following:
When Winston Churchill was a young man, his father concluded that Winston was “unfit for a career in law or politics” because he did so badly in school.
Barbra Streisand’s mother told her she wasn’t pretty enough to be an actress and she could never become a singer because her voice wasn’t good enough.
Conrad Hilton, who created a business empire with his Hilton Hotels, once overheard his father say to his mother: “Mary, I do not know what will become of Connie. I’m afraid he’ll never amount to anything.”
When Charles Darwin was getting ready to set sail on his five-year expedition on the Beagle, his father was extremely disappointed. He thought his son was drifting into a life of sin and idleness.
George Washington’s mother was a harping, complaining, self-centered woman by all accounts. She belittled Washington’s accomplishments and didn’t show up at either of his presidential inaugurations. She was always whining that her children neglected her, and she was especially enraged when her son George ran off to command the army for the American Revolution. She honestly believed it was his duty to stay home and take care of her.
In his youth, the late Leonard Bernstein, one of the most talented and successful composers in American history, was continually pressured by his father to give up his music and do something worthwhile, like help out in his family’s beauty-supply business. After Leonard became famous, his father was asked about that, and he answered, “Well how was I supposed to know he was the Leonard Bernstein?!
People may criticize you. They may make fun of you. Some may even try to STOP YOU !!! Most of the time it is even with good intentions of saving you from failure. But failure is a necessary part of success. It is a learning experience that, when properly used, will enable you to reach ANY GOAL !!! Not only that but giving up is worse than failing. When you give up you will never know what might have been. You will eat yourself alive wondering. We all have something inside of us that is struggling to get out. Les Brown said, “If there is a message inside you IT WILL find a way to get out.” But it can’t if you let things like criticism stop you from pushing on.
