Newsletter 08/26/07

If any of you had trouble reaching me this weekend there are a couple of reasons for that, some good and some not so good.

The good reason being that, as many of you know, I having a passion for motorcycle riding and one thing that bikers LOVE to do is charity work. This Saturday was a charity ride for a local organization called the WHAS Crusade For Children. Between riding to the event and participating in it, I was unavailable a good deal of the day due to a combination of cell phone reception issues and it being a LITTLE hard to hear the phone ring on a Harley and equally difficult to answer it while riding.

The bad reason being that I have spent the majority of my day today rescuing my bike. While on a short ride this morning evidently all this 100 + degree days we have been having took their toll on my battery and I found myself WALKING !!! BUT being the positive minded person I am, I didn’t let it get me down. And, sure enough, I only had to walk about a half mile till the Universe catered to my thoughts and caused a family driving in the OTHER direction to turn around, pick me up and take me all the way home!!! The Law of Attraction NEVER ceases to amaze me.

Note: I’ve noticed that a lot of your calls and e-mails are of a technical nature. PLEASE, send me any questions or areas of concern having to do with computers in general or specific things (internet AND non-internet related) you are having trouble with and I am going to cover those things in depth in a week or so.

Ok, now about that supplementary e-mail I sent out this week which some of you will not have received if you signed up in the last couple of days or so. First of all, as you know this newsletter is independent of Success University of which I am a member. I am here for the masses. But at the same time I do PROMOTE Success University here. Second of all, what I am about to do is independent of my downline. It’s for everyone of my readers regardless of who you are signed up under.

What I am going to do is this. As those of you who are already a member of Success University know, they have been really generous with the promotion bonuses. I wish to do my part to take that one step further for all of you. By the way, if you are not a member of Success University NOW would be a really good time to start !!!

I am going to have an enrollment competition that is effective IMMEDIATELY. It is going to run through the end of November. So, effectively you have 90 days to participate. I’m still working on the details of the prizes but I will tell you this. As a member of Success University you should ALL strive to be leaders. You will never be truly successful as long as you remain a follower. That having been said, one of the things that all the winners will receive from me will be tickets to the leadership conference in Dallas, TX this upcoming January !!! People, if there is a leader in you it WILL come out during that event. If you can leave that event unmoved then you, my friend, are UNMOVEABLE !!!

Ok, I would like to touch briefly today on something that I like to call SPIKING. Now, all you volleyball fans just remain calm. I’m not talking about spiking a ball. I’m talking about something that I like to do with my business cards. Business cards are not just something you hand out to people. Use your imagination like I do. Those silly little things can end up in just the darnedest places.

1. Go to the library/book store in the self help section and SPIKE a couple books. The person who sees that card is most likely already interested in your product, service or business.

2. While at the airport, SPIKE a couple of Business magazines or the Wall Street Journal. Probably pretty good candidates there.

3. SPIKE your tip at the restaurant. Bet that waitress or waiter would much rather do what you are doing than what they are doing.

4. Buying gas? SPIKE the card reader.

5. Using a pay phone. SPIKE the receiver when you are finished.

6. I even SPIKE my envelopes when I pay my bills !!!

I could go on and on but I think you get the picture. USE YOUR IMAGINATION !!!

One question that I get quite frequently is, “How do I start up a conversation about my business? How do I approach someone COLD CALL style?” Well, I am reminded of a story I heard a long time ago that, in a nutshell, came down to this…

“Everyone of us is born with two ears and one mouth. If you listen twice as much as you talk you will go a lot further in life !!!”

How that applies to that question is this. LISTEN constantly. People have no problem complaining about the things in their life that they don’t like. I promise you won’t have to listen long. Listen standing in the checkout line at the grocery. Listen in line at the bank. Listen while you’re at the laundry mat. Listen while you’re in the doctor’s office. PEOPLE COMPLAIN OUT LOUD !!! They’re not at all bashful about it. And that is YOUR opportunity.

Why do people buy a product or service? Why do people join a business? To solve a problem in their life. People make purchasing and participation decisions with their emotions. When you hear someone complaining about something in their life they don’t like, that is your chance to tell them about the solution that YOU have for them. Some of the sweetest music to my ears is to hear someone whine about their job or complain that they don’t have enough time with their family and friends.

Oh yes, one of my other favorite things to do is to go shopping somewhere like Wal-Mart where I KNOW that poor lady is going to be REQUIRED to ask me how I’m doing !!! Believe me, I’m MORE than happy to tell her and explain to her how she could be doing just the same, as I’m handing her a business card of course !!! I guess what I’m trying to say is that if you take a little of the mechanics OUT of business and put the emotions back INTO it, I will bet you that your rate of success will increase. Of course, always remember that the key ingredient is SINCERETY. This is NOT some lame form of trickery. Merely a method of opening yourself to opportunity.

Well, I suppose I should close for now and feed my dog Shelby. She is giving me those “Hey, remember me?” eyes. People, animals have one trait that most humans can only DREAM of ever having… UNCONDITIONAL LOVE !!! Nothing puts me into a state of joy and happiness quicker than to spend time with my furry friend. Next time you’re in a big tizzy over something just pause and take a moment to be envious of the simplicity of their lives. A life where the only thing needed for survival besides food and water is LOVE……….
